FRENCH HONORARY COMMITTEE

iven the importance of France and the French to an appreciation of Franklin's life and achievements, we were particularly pleased that the exhibition traveled to two Paris venues in 2007: the Musée Carnavalet and the Musée des Arts & Métiers. At the Musée Carnavalet, the exhibition highlighted Franklin's diplomatic mission to help the American "insurgents" while at the same time evoking eighteenth century Salon society in Paris, Versailles and Passy. The Musée des Arts & Métiers showcased Franklin the scientist and included a rich array of interactive exhibits developed for the American audiences. We were grateful for the support and advice of the French Honorary Committee of the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary.
